Hard Chrome - Flash or Industrial

Hard Chrome - An electro-deposition process that allows the application of a layer of a very hard metal over a part that requires some type of rebuilding, protection, or to allow for some machinability. We apply Hard Chrome for the most diverse parts, applications, and functions. We are specialists in the hard chromium application over ODs starting at just 3mm, to allow for a remanufacturing / rebuilding of many types of metal-mechanical parts. We also offer hard chromium applications to IDs starting at just 25mm in diameter!

Advantages of Hard Chrome Plating

• Hardnes (68~70 HRC / 1,000~1,100 Vickers)
• Excellent adhesion over the metal base: molecular type on a crystaline struture
• Optimal sliding characteristic over steel: 0.17
• High Load Capacity, that is, high resistance to pressure
• Great endurance to wear and scratches
• Anti-corrosion property: depending on the layer's thickness it is possible to achieve an optimal protection against corrosion
• Applied at low temperatures (lower to 140F) preventing deformation
• Can be applied to a wide variety of geometries
• Melting Temperature of 1,800ºC
• Electrical Conductivity: 20.000 Ohm-1/cm-1
• Low friction coheficient ensures longer life. Cr x Steel is 30% less than steel over steel

Both are Hard Chrome platings, but with very different characteristics & applications:

Plating Layer (between 7.5 ~ 75 micras)	Plating Layer (between 0.075mm ~ 0.5mm)
Quick Application, deposition less than 1 hr	Slow Application, deposition takes hours
Does not allow for machining	Can be machined (grinded)
Allow for friction and wear reduction	Allow for corrosion and wear reduction
Finish matches the base metal	Finish always dull and rough
